I first started pottery at Adult Education classes in the early 1980’s.
She had gained ‘A’ level art but had never experienced working with clay.
Having watched a programme about Lucy Rie I was inspired by her work.
My preferred method of working is wheel throwing, working predominantly with stoneware clay but occasionally with porcelain.
I love experimenting with layered glazes – awaiting the thrill or disappointment on opening the kiln.
I throw mainly functional pieces such as casserole dishes, butter dishes and small cheese dishes, bowls and vases.
Recently I have been making more decorative pieces such as the rocking pots shown and pit or raku fired tea light holders.
