Being inspired by natural form, music, plant growth, sea flora and fauna,  I love to make work starting with my own hand made paster moulds and coiled stoneware formers. Using bone china casting slip I create pieces with interplay between interior and exterior surface,  glazed and unglazed, detailed and minimalist, colour and whiteness. These aspects are a continuing fascination.

Making by hand has been an important part of my life since childhood. The creative arts have been integral to my life.

In 2000 I had the opportunity to formalise my creativity by studying ceramics one day a week at Merton College where I gained City & Guilds Medal for Excellence 2000, Highly Commended’. This encouraged me to continue my studies, part time at South Thames College over a period of 4 years culminating in ‘Professional Development Diploma Fine Art Ceramics’.

Since then I have been working from my studio in Iliffe Yard, developing ceramic work by taking on commissions, taking part in exhibitions and in 2017 being filmed making bone china slipcast birds with Kirstie Allsopp for ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas’ tv program.

Now the time has come to bring my studio home, and I am looking forward to a new chapter, seeing where this takes me, and, as a new exhibiting member, becoming involved with Wey Ceramics Society.
