I tinkered with ceramics as the three dimensional element of art A-level many years ago.  On returning to ceramics some ten years ago I started to produce figurative clay sculptures.

wings.jpg (43093 bytes) Inevitably with the acquisition of a kiln and with clay supplies around me I was drawn towards the ceramic vessel.  The plastic properties of the material allow me to experiment with forms and shapes.   I handbuild with coils and sometimes slabs to produce large pots using various geometric shapes.  I prefer to use simple glazes which allow the method of construction to be apparent.
three girls.jpg (483968 bytes) My figurative sculptures are taken from life.  The example shown of three girls is in fired crank clay and was a recent commission.  I will, if required, produce moulds and cast work in various metal resins.
