HOSPICE TILE PROJECT
In 2002 members of the Wey Ceramics Society presented 22 tiles to the "Christophers" Childrens Hospice in Guildford.
These tiles, each measuring approximately 12 inches square, were created for display in the special sensory courtyard in the hospice and were therefore specially designed to be fun, bright and also to incorporate features for visually impaired children so that they could feel their way around the image. As the society initiated the project at the same time as the construction of the hospice it was able to coordinate the designs with the main themes of the hospice under the titles Safari, Forests, Coral Reef, Oceans, Universe, Prairie, Suns, Littleton (Village), Wheels, Mistral, all of which came together to represent a journey through life.
